1. Enabling Production-ready Features. The spring-boot-actuator module provides all of Spring Boot’s production-ready features. The recommended way to enable the features is to add a dependency on the spring-boot-starter-actuator ‘Starter’.
2. Endpoints. Actuator endpoints let you monitor and interact with your application. Spring Boot includes a number of built-in endpoints and lets you add your own.
3. Monitoring and Management over HTTP. If you are developing a web application, Spring Boot Actuator auto-configures all enabled endpoints to be exposed over HTTP.
4. Monitoring and Management over JMX. Java Management Extensions (JMX) provide a standard mechanism to monitor and manage applications. By default, this feature is not enabled and can be turned on by setting the configuration property spring.jmx.enabled to true.
5. Loggers. Spring Boot Actuator includes the ability to view and configure the log levels of your application at runtime. You can view either the entire list or an individual logger’s configuration, which is made up of both the explicitly configured logging level as well as the effective logging level given to it by the logging framework.
